Hi Blanders, if I may be so bold as to use your nickname? I didn't read all of the Bleat post that you linked to so have no idea to what you are burning with hot envy, but I have been wondering since I started reading the Bleat and Blandwagon regularly, whether you were familiar with Lilek's work, as you remind me a lot of him. Not saying you plagiarise or deliberately copy his style, just that your styles are coincidentally very similar, as is your humour, gift with the language and the subjects which you blog about. Probably why I read and enjoy both of your blogs immensely!

BTW, what are you raving about this time? Couldn't be bothered reading Lilek's entire post to try and work it out. Go ahead, call me lazy.

Ok, so I am lazy, or as I prefer to say "busy", but I just realised that all I had to do to answer my own question about whether you were familiar with Lilek's work was to check your blog roll! Not sure how long he's been there, but there he is... oh dear, how embarrassing, another wasted second in cyberspace. Still, it beats hanging out the washing, except we have to do that too...

I am consumed with envy, Janine, because Lileks is stealing the dream job that is rightfully mine. Mine, I tell you! It's not fair! Just because he used "hard work", "professionalism" and "contacts" while I used "daydreaming" and "slackitude".

Of course, the MST3K obsession. How could I have missed it? Must sit down and watch one one day to see what all the fuss is about.

I don't think you should be too hard on yourself - just daydreaming and slackitude would not have gotten you this far...well this is a pretty good blog at any rate, and you are still writing other things I hope?

If Lileks can build a career out of super-cool, retro, well-written, conservative snarkiness, you can too.
